Four Victims Wounded at Howe Park Sacramento — Unsanctioned Gathering Ends in Shooting





On Saturday evening, an unlawful gathering of hundreds of people at Howe Park in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area ended in a shooting when 20 to 25 rounds echoed through the area as Sacramento County law enforcement were in the midst of clearing the area.

What Happened

At around 6:30 PM on April 18, the SCSO was notified concerning individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at the park. An additional caller reported a reported fight and people leaving the area quickly.

Law enforcement air support was sent to the area and surveyed the area from above but found no evidence of an active fight.

Despite this, several hundred people had collected at the park for what law enforcement classified as an unlawful gathering. Officers set up around the park, illuminated the area with emergency lights, and used roughly 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse via loudspeaker announcements.

As law enforcement was clearing the area, upwards of 20 gunshots echoed through the area — sending hundreds of people running in all directions at once.

Those Injured

Four people — a woman and three men, all in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two sustained immediate injuries, one was classified with moderate injuries, and one victim sustained website minor injuries. All four were listed as stable. What Was Found at the Scene
